Who does the tutoring?
All of our Personal Tutoring is done by University of Maryland students. Tutors are required to have at least a 3.5 GPA, previous tutoring experience, and weekday evening and weekend availability. Many tutors also have classroom teaching experience.
Where does the tutoring take place?
Our tutors will travel within 15 minutes of College Park to meet with students. If the student lives within that radius, the tutor will meet him at his home; otherwise, we can arrange for the student to meet the tutor at a library convenient to both parties.
What is the cancellation policy?
We ask that our tutors be given 24 hours notice in the event of a cancellation. If a tutor shows up for a session because he or she was not informed of a cancellation in a timely manner, the client will be assessed a penalty of one session. Our tutors spend a lot of time in transit to lessons, so advanced notice is very much appreciated.
How are tutors chosen?
Each tutor must apply through our Employment page. Candidates are then screened by management for their grades, SAT scores, experience, and extracurricular involvement. Candidiates are only offered employment if they have demonstrated a committment to academics and can show a successful previous tutoring record.
Who works with younger students?
We assign Education majors from the University of Maryland to work with kindergraten through sixth grade students. These tutors not only work with younger students as a part of their classroom experience, but they have learned effective teaching methods for this age group.
How much does it cost per session?
Please visit our Services page for all pricing information.
How do I make payments?
Because of a dramatic increase in bad debt and bounced checks, we no longer accept payment by check. Clients can opt to pay by credit card over the phone or online. Contact us for more information on payment methods.
